Staging… but no play!

The stage has been set! I think. Stage etymologically derives from the Latin stare (to stand) but it can also just refer to a foundation upon which something is stood (like a service trip to Morocco!!) Still, I can’t help but get a tad reminiscent for my days on the stage and the joy of a passionate production. The metaphor holds true, there are many passionate people here, all looking forward to making something great! Of course, there is no “play” and no expectation for me that there will be any. This is WORK baby!

Play can come after, maybe once I am close to conversational adeptness I can rest easy knowing that I am in my final site location. Then maybe I’ll have a bit to smoke… haha.

In all seriousness, the past few days have been a whirlwind. I have had an absolutely terrible bulldozer for a roommate, a shibbolethic orientation, and a lot of great food. I think I might lose weight again without my sister-in-law Sarah’s excellent cooking (or Slater’s porkchops!) but I’m not too worried about that! There will be plenty of great new foods in country that I am excited to try.

Lots on my mind, lots to think about.

Slogan of the week: It is what it is and it’s not what it’s not!
